Philippi Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1932. The department covers approximately 250 square miles, and protects around 12,000 citizens in Barbour County. The department operates from a single station located in Philippi, WVa. It is one of the three fire departments located in Barbour county. PVFD is an all volunteer department with 28 active members. Philippi VFD averages a call volume around 500 calls to action in a year. The department responds to a variety of calls including but not limited to vehicle and machinery rescue, structure fires, brush fires, alarm investigations, and water rescues. Philippi VFD currently holds an ISO class Rating of 4.
